White House border czar Tom Homan isn’t calling Delaney Hall a luxury facility โ but he’s not backing down from defending it, either.
In a CBS News interview aired Thursday, June 5, Homan pushed back against mounting criticism of the ICE detention center in New Jersey, where protests have intensified over reported conditions inside. “The spaghetti was good,” he said, describing a visit he made to the facility last weekend.
Homan acknowledged Delaney Hall isn’t a “5-star resort” โ his words โ but called it “well run.” The comment landed as demonstrators outside the facility have kept pressure on federal officials over how detainees are housed and treated.
He didn’t offer additional details about what he observed during his walkthrough, and CBS News didn’t report whether he spoke with detainees during the visit.
Delaney Hall has drawn sustained attention from immigration activists and elected officials in New Jersey who have raised concerns about the center’s operations. Homan’s defense puts the White House squarely on the other side of that argument โ at least for now. Whether any independent review of the facility is planned hasn’t been announced.
