Bill Gates went before a House probe on Tuesday, June 10, and told lawmakers he had no knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes โ the first time the Microsoft co-founder has answered questions about the relationship under that kind of formal scrutiny.
Gates testified on Capitol Hill in response to questions about his ties to Epstein, the financier who died in a federal detention cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Gates’s position was direct: he didn’t know what Epstein was doing.
The House investigation has been pressing for details on how Epstein maintained relationships with prominent figures in business and finance โ and what, if anything, those associates knew. Gates is among the highest-profile witnesses called so far.
What legislators made of Gates’s answers, and whether the probe intends to call additional witnesses, hadn’t been publicly disclosed as of Tuesday evening.
