Mazak North America and Northern Kentucky University are set to host a STEM junior academy showcase on Thursday, June 26 โ giving students a chance to present work from what appears to be a structured youth program tied to the two organizations.
Details on the showcase’s format, location on the NKU campus or at Mazak’s Florence-area facilities, and the number of student participants haven’t been announced publicly ahead of the event.
Mazak North America, the U.S. headquarters of the Japanese machine tool manufacturer, is based in Florence, Kentucky. NKU sits just across the river from Cincinnati in Highland Heights. The two have maintained a working relationship around workforce development and technical education in the region.
A STEM junior academy โ the name given to the program โ typically targets middle or high school students with hands-on instruction in science, technology, engineering, and math. Whether this year’s showcase is the program’s first public event or part of an ongoing series isn’t yet clear.
No agenda, list of participating students, or remarks from either organization had been released as of Tuesday, June 24.
