Votes are being counted Wednesday, June 25, 2026, in Georgia’s gubernatorial primary โ a race that has drawn competing candidates from both parties and will determine who heads to the general election this fall.
On the Republican side, Rick Jackson and Lt. Gov. Burt Jones are among those seeking the nomination. Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms is running on the Democratic side. No results have been certified yet.
Jones, who has held statewide office since 2023, entered the race as a well-funded incumbent with name recognition across Georgia. Jackson has positioned himself as a challenger within the party โ though the two haven’t shared a debate stage in recent weeks, and the outcome of their contest remains open.
Bottoms left the mayor’s office in 2022 after a single term, citing her family. She later served in the Biden White House before returning to Georgia politics. Whether she faces a contested primary or clear path is still unresolved as counting continues.
No winner has been projected in any of the contested races as of Wednesday night.
