A fire ripped through a Citrus Heights townhome complex Saturday evening, damaging 12 units and leaving an unknown number of residents without a place to sleep, according to KCRA.
The blaze hit the complex hard enough to push people out of their homes – though the full extent of injuries, if any, and the cause of the fire hadn’t been released as of Saturday night.
Citrus Heights sits just northeast of Sacramento in Sacramento County. Townhome fires at that scale can strain a block quickly; the units in these complexes typically share walls, allowing fire to move between homes faster than in single-family structures.
No word yet on what sparked it.
KCRA reported the fire Saturday, June 21, 2026, but did not immediately say how many people were displaced or whether any of the 12 damaged units were total losses. The number of fire agencies that responded and how long crews worked the scene were also not available in early reports.
Citrus Heights Fire Department had not issued a public statement on the cause or the timeline of the response as of the initial report.
