The fee waiver applies to state park entry, meaning visitors won’t need to pay to access park grounds that day. Free Fishing Day itself is a statewide observance; on that date, Wyoming Game and Fish typically suspends the requirement to carry a valid fishing license, letting residents and out-of-state visitors cast a line without buying one first.
June 6 falls on a Friday, giving anglers who can’t make a weekend trip a chance to get out mid-week. Wyoming has dozens of fishable waters inside state park boundaries — from Keyhole State Park’s reservoir in Crook County to Glendo State Park’s 12,000-acre lake in Platte County — though the event isn’t limited to those sites.
State parks normally charge a daily entry fee for vehicles. Waiving that cost on June 6 removes one more barrier for families or first-time anglers testing the water before committing to a season license.
Wyoming State Parks hasn’t yet published specific programming or ranger-led events tied to the day, according to County 10’s report. Whether any individual parks will host guided outings or instructional sessions on June 6 wasn’t immediately clear.
